When a new OTA update is available, your r1 will automatically download the latest update if it is connected to Wi-Fi and the battery is above 50%. If your r1 is not connected to Wi-Fi or the battery is below 50%, you will get a notification instead. Once the update is done installing, you will be prompted to restart your r1 and finish the update.
Tip: You can use your r1 while the OTA update downloads and installs.
How to check the status of an OTA update
The battery life indicator on the home screen will be replaced with a progress bar while the OTA update is in progress. Use the following steps to get to the OTA update screen in the settings menu.
- Scroll up twice to open the settings menu
- Select OTA update
The OTA update screen will show one of the following messages.
- “Your device is up to date”—Your r1 is on the latest version and there are no new updates available.
- “Installing OTA update”—Your r1 is downloading or installing a new update. The status, time estimate, and progress bar will be shown.
- “OTA update finished”—The OTA update is complete and your r1 needs to be restarted. Select restart now or delay for later.
