making r1 more accessible to the developer community

rabbit r1, and our rabbit OS, are built on top of AOSP (Android Open Source Project) as a foundation. The Android and AOSP communities have a long, rich history of modding, flashing, and customizing hardware devices in the ecosystem. Here at rabbit, we are OK with that and we believe in giving you more control.
We fully support you — the users — in doing whatever you want with your r1, as long as it’s not deliberately malicious, intended to compromise our services, or harmful to other users. rabbit OS remains at the heart of our vision, but now, you have the option to expand your experience on your terms.
You can find information below on how to unlock the bootloader on your r1, which will enable you to modify and flash other software, as well as instructions and a tool on how to revert a flashed r1 back to stock rabbit OS.
Please note that unlocking your bootloader will permanently void the warranty for your r1.
You acknowledge and agree that unlocking your bootloader or otherwise modifying the r1 firmware or software permanently voids any warranty that would otherwise apply to the r1. Moreover, any damage you may cause to your r1 with any such modifications are at your own risk, and rabbit takes zero responsibility for any damage you may cause to your r1 through this software and OS modifications. The voiding of our limited warranty is covered in Section 5 of the “Warranty” section of our “limited warranty & return policy” here, as well as in our full terms and conditions which you can read here.
